Beef Rendang

A hearty, flavor-packed dish of slow-cooked beef infused with warm spices and rich coconut goodness.

Ingredients

  • Hego Beef Cube 500g
  • 400 ml coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 3 shallots
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 stalk lemongrass, bruised
  • 2 tbsp rendang paste
  • 2 kaffir lime leaves
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Blend shallots, garlic, and ginger into a smooth paste.
  2. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat, add the blended paste, and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the rendang paste and cook for another minute.
  4. Add beef cubes and mix well to coat with the spices.
  5. Pour in coconut milk, then add lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves. Simmer on low heat for 1–1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
  6. Cook until the beef is tender and the sauce thickens, then adjust salt to taste.

Serving Suggestions

Serve hot with:

  • Steamed rice 
  • Ketupat (compressed rice cakes)
